By code, all equipment, especially elevators and escalators, need to be inspected at a minimum of once a year. Many states have adopted a six-month inspection that requires you to retain those records and make them available upon request.
Depending on what state you are located in, a minimum of an annual inspection is required for elevators and escalators. Most are now requiring a six-month inspection, except for dumbwaiters, material lifts and private residence elevators.
