As a Building Owner or Property Manager there are several things you can do to make the Inspection Process easier. Six simple tips to help you pass your next inspection.
1 - Locate your Maintenance Control Program
2 - Locate your last Inspection & Testing Form
3 - Check that your monthly Fire Service log is up to date
4 - Check the Machine Room lighting & that the door is self-locking/self-closing
5 - Check that your Fire Extinguisher is up to date
6 - Check your in-elevator Emergency Phones
By code, all equipment, especially elevators and escalators, need to be inspected at a minimum of once a year. Many states have adopted a six-month inspection that requires you to retain those records and make them available upon request.
